The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has played a role in American life for decades. In case you’ve been under a rock for the past few decades, The Wizard of Oz is about a young girl, Dorothy, who gets knocked unconscious during a tornado in her small Kansas town. Dorothy, her dog, Toto (pronounced “toe dough”), and the farmhouse where she lay unconscious are whisked away by the tornado to the magical Land of Oz. When the tornado subsides, the farmhouse lands on top of the Wicked Witch of the East and kills her.

Dorothy and Toto exit the farmhouse and is immediately greeted graciously by the tiny inhabitants of the Land of Oz, called the Munchkins. The Munchkins are grateful for Dorothy killing the Wicked Witch of the East, because she terrorized the people and therefore the Munchkins glorify Dorothy and celebrate. While celebrating Glinda the Good Witch of the North appears to talk to Dorothy and explain all that has happened. Dorothy wants nothing more than to go back home to her family in Kansas.

During this time the Wicked Witch of the West (the sister of the dead Wicked Witch of the East) arrives upset that her sister is dead and demands to see the person responsible for her death. Glinda protects Dorothy by magically putting the ruby slippers worn by the Wicked Witch of the East on Dorothy’s feet. Glinda tells Dorothy as long as you wear these slippers you will be protected and the Wicked Witch of the West cannot harm you. She tells Dorothy to never take the shoes off.

The Wicked Witch of the West knows she has been defeated this time and therefore retreats, but vows to return for Dorothy and her little doggie too! Glinda tells Dorothy if she wants to get back to Kansas then she should go to Emerald City to see the Wizard who can make it possible for her to get back home. Glinda tells Dorothy to follow the Yellow Brick Road to see the Wizard. Glinda vanishes and now Dorothy must set out by herself with Toto, to see the Wizard.

While traveling the Yellow Brick Road Dorothy is met with obstacles, danger, and adventure. Along the way Dorothy meets the Scarecrow who doesn’t have a brain, the Tin Man who doesn’t have a heart, and a cowardly Lion who doesn’t have any courage! The four of them and the dog, Toto, all set out to see the Wizard together, with each of them needing something from the Wizard.

It is adventurous to say the least. The story continues with more obstacles, dangers, and adventure. It is an excellent storyline and plot with an incredible cast.  The Wizard of Oz is a must see musical. The special effects and costumes bring it to life! Buy your Wizard of Oz tickets today!

Memphis the Musical is now playing on Broadway at the Shubert Theater in New York City.  From now until February 27, 2011 Memphis tickets will be on sale.  Set in the 1950′s in Memphis, Tennessee the musical Memphis is the story about a white disc jockey, Huey Calhoun, who tries to change the world by being the first white DJ to intermingle and play black music.

During the 1950′s black and whites did not mix and there was low tolerance for any that did.  Huey enjoyed the sounds of black music and the soulful rock ‘n roll.

One day Huey did the unthinkable and went to an underground party in a black neighborhood.  This caused an uproar, but Huey persisted.  At this party he met a sista, Felicia, who was a talented singer.  Impressed with her voice, style, and grace Huey pursued her and shortly after they started dating covertly.  He promised that he will get her song on the radio, even though Huey did not have any radio connections at the time.

Huey was determined to keep his promise and therefore worked hard to find a radio station who will let him DJ.  Huey found the radio station, but it was an uphill battle and the people of Memphis did not all accept his love for black music.  When the people of Memphis learned Huey was dating a black woman this infuriated the masses on both sides of the track.  Huey and Felicia find themselves fighting for their lives.  Only through the love of music did they find peace and comfort.  Eventually, with the help of the radio, Huey and Felicia was able to touch the hearts of others.

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark is a new musical coming to Foxwoods Theater in New York City on November 14, 2010 until April 17, 2011.  Tickets are available and on sale now.

Everyone loves Spider-Man the comics, but how enjoyable is Spider-Man the Musical going to be? Knowing Spiderman, I can almost guarantee that this will be an action-packed and eventful musical that all ages will enjoy.

The story of Peter Parker is a quite interesting one.  He gets bit by a genetically engineered spider which in turn gives him super powers like the ability to spin a web, stick to ceilings, climb walls, intense senses, and strength eight times his weight.  Being a geeky kid in Queens, NY Peter is bullied by neighborhood kids.  He has a secret crush on his next door neighbor, Mary Jane Watson, who doesn’t even realize he exist.
